Urea is the active ingredient of Diesel Exhaust Fluid.  Urea is created from synthetic ammonia and carbon dioxide when subjected to high heat and pressure and can be produced as a liquid or solid.  Synthetic urea is used mainly in fertilizers but is used in plastics, animal feed, cleaning agents, and pharmaceutical applications.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a non-hazardous solution which is 32.5% Urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. DEF is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to break down the dangerous NOx emissions into nitrogen and water.

CleanBoost has reduced DEF usage between 9% to 52%, depending on a variety of conditions.
